# How do I set up and troubleshoot my thermal printer?

Oddle supports the Epson TM-T82 thermal printer connected through a TP-LINK Wireless Nano Router. This article walks you through the full setup: connecting the router to your Wi-Fi, resetting and configuring the printer, and pairing it with the Register App.

## Part 1: Connect the TP-LINK router to your Wi-Fi

### Step 1 — Reset the router

1. Make sure the TP-LINK router is powered on.
2. Locate the **Reset** button (a small pinhole on the back or bottom of the device).
3. Use a pin or paperclip to press and hold the **Reset** button for at least 10 seconds. The LED will flicker.
4. Release the button and wait for the router to reboot. It will return to factory defaults.

### Step 2 — Connect your device to the TP-LINK Wi-Fi

1. On your iPad or device, open **Settings > Wi-Fi**.
2. Find and connect to the TP-LINK network — it will appear as something like **TP-LINK\_XXXXXX**.
3. No password is required for this connection.

### Step 3 — Open the TP-LINK management page

1. Open a web browser (e.g. Chrome or Safari).
2. Type **192.168.1.253** in the address bar and press Enter.

### Step 4 — Log in

1. Enter **Oddle123!** for both the username and password fields.
2. Tap **Next** to proceed.

### Step 5 — Scan for your Wi-Fi network

1. Tap **Next** twice to move through the setup pages.
2. Tap **Scan** to search for available Wi-Fi networks.

### Step 6 — Select and connect to your network

1. From the list of networks, tap the name of your restaurant's Wi-Fi.
2. Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
3. Tap **Next**.

### Step 7 — Finalise the setup

1. Review the settings on the confirmation screen.
2. Tap **Restart** to apply the changes, then **OK** to confirm.

The TP-LINK router is now connected to your Wi-Fi network.

1. On the iPad, go to **Settings > Wi-Fi**.

### Step 2 — Switch to Manual IP

* **Router:** the iPad IP address you copied in Step 1

### Step 4 — Access the printer configuration page

2. The Epson printer configuration page will load.

### Step 5 — Update the TCP/IP settings

### Step 2 — Open Settings

Tap the **Gear** icon at the bottom-left of the Register App screen.

### Step 3 — Set up the thermal printer

1. Under **Printer Settings**, tap **Setup Thermal Printer**.
2. Select your printer's IP address.
3. Select **Epson** as the printer type.
4. Select your preferred language.

If your menu uses Chinese characters, select **Chinese (Simplified)** or **Chinese (Traditional)** as appropriate.

If you can't see your printer's IP address, go to your iPad's **Settings > Oddle Register > Local Network** and enable the toggle. This allows the app to discover devices on your network.

### Step 4 (Optional) — Add a kitchen printer

If you have a second printer for the kitchen, tap **Setup Kitchen Printer**. Select the kitchen printer's IP address, select **Epson**, and choose a language.

### Step 5 (Optional) — Enable auto-printing

To automatically print a receipt whenever a new order arrives, tap the **Gear** icon and enable the **Auto Print** toggle.

Auto-printing only works if both the main and kitchen printer IP addresses are set up. If you only have one printer — even if it's for the kitchen — connect it under **Setup Thermal Printer** for auto-printing to function correctly.
